Artist Statement

I currently live and work in New York City.  I had the pleasure of serving over 10 years on The Ohio Art League's Board of Trustees, including two years as President.  My work can be found in several public and private collections.  I have had work selected for publication in New American Paintings, International Painting Annual and Studio Visit Magazine.

My work is rooted in a concern for more sustainable food sources while exploring feminine themes, such as beauty and sensuality.  Ultimately, the work is about the process of painting.  There are dialogues between design and painting, depth and flatness, reality and fantasy.  I love to expose often ignored, common forms and transform them through the use of hot color, magnified scale and extremes of surface and light.  My hope is to express reality as well as defy it.
